Hey guys, just wondering if any of you know if there is a Windows version of Adium. Until I get a mac I am stuck with windows and am wondering if there is anything like it for Windows. Please let me know what you think about your suggestions. Thanks.

There is no official Adium for Windows...try Pidgin or Trillian, those are pretty close
.

Seconded on Pidgin
It's very nice.

I looked up some reviews of Trillian on Cnet.com and people said it got a lot of spyware on your computer. Is this true? And what would most of you guys recommend?

Yeah, pidgin is okay. Doesn't come close to Adium. But it's decent.

Trillian does NOT have spyware.

lol anything you download on download.com is virus and spyware free just to let you know. And yea Pidgin is OK, but I don't like its UI.
EDIT: 500th post! w00t! -
Adium is based on Pidgin.
Pidgin is fantastic, it's not as "pretty" as Adium but it works amazingly well.
Get it. -
You could always download a new theme for pidgin.

To be precise, Adium is not based on Pidgin. It is based on the libpurple backend. Granted, the GAIM team developed libpurple (I think... had problems actually finding a source on who originally developed that lib).
But yeah, pidgin is pretty much default for any linux OS... Not bad for Windows either, but still... pains me using it compared to Adium

pidgin IM ftw. linix > rest

Pidgin.
Trillian's free version has lots of missing features - most annoyingly, you can't see the status of others. We use status messages all the time so this is a big loss. In addition, Trillian has lots of non-standard user interfaces. For example, select is a copy at the same time, no need to hit Ctrl-C. Or try finding anything in the preferences, it's a jumbled mess that makes no sense. This kind of stuff drives me crazy - it's "different", but without any visible benefit.
I used Trillian for a long time b/c didn't know about Pidgin
Pidgin is a nice little chat client, comparable to Adium, and works just fine, does what it should do, and looks reasonably nice. Best on Windows, no doubt. -
Thanks a lot for the input guys!
