Using the MBP as single user do you think it is needed to setup an administration account and a separate user account?
-
mattireland It used to be the iLand..
Just use the admin account. Setting up a separate account is pointless as you do not have all the priveleges and some installations are not allowed.

That is the point. For security, you should never run as admin. For everyday tasks, using the limited user account is the way to go. There are no issues like those associated with XP. I always run as limited and only use my admin account when necessary. Remember that if your system is compromised, they have the same rights as your account. Incidentally, you should also create a third account that you never use for diagnosing issues. If something happens in your normal account, but not this third account, you know that the issue is with something particular to that account.
Always run as limited. -
I was going to do this, but I install/uninstall numerous programs on a daily basis, and I figure it'd just be too much hassle.
Mostly I'm just lazy I guess
-
It honestly is not much hassle. You just type in your admin name and password when you need it. You will find it comes up less often than you would think.
-
whats the difference between having a limited and admin account?
-
Limited account does not let you do system critical changes like installing and uninstalling programs or user accounts.
A good safe guard against rogue programs as your not running with all privileges and may not access / modify some system files.
Administration account or not???
