    Hello

Is there an internal Blu Ray Drive that fits into an MBP?

    Regards

Wouldn't the mbp NEED to support bluray in order for the drive to work? I highly doubt its just plug n play.

Wouldnt you have to pry that faceplate off for it to fit into the unibody?

    Uh, slot loaders are fixed.
    You can't replace them.

They most certainly can be replaced. But with the Mac, the problem is getting software to enable the Blu-Ray capabilities. Apparently, support will be enabled with Snow Leopard.

But the drives are replaceable. It's not like Apple designs their own slot-loading drives and they're custom-made. They're off the shelf parts just like most of the rest of system. Here is a picture of the drive removed from the unibody MacBook:

it is possible, and you can get a slotloading BD drive that will work, but like everyone is saying, there is no Mac software to play it back, you could install Windows or and Linux OS to get BD playback.

Honestly though, you are better off keeping Blu-Ray in the realm of the larger screen HDTV anyway.

This a work around using VLC to get your BR's to work in Mac OSx. I will rty and find that site I read before.

And on a 2800 dollar notebook (17") with a 1920 x 1200 res the BR should be Standard. Apple needs to get over the licensing issues and finally give teh customer what they have been asking for.

    For the first statement, What?

And secondly, I wish Blu-Ray was standard too, is it that big of a deal, no.

Any links to a Product, How-To? As stated before i will install Ubuntu on the MBP so the software should not be the problem.

I don't see why that one wouldn't fit. Take a look at iFixit's guides on this, and they will walk you through all of it step by step.

Nope, but I am suspecting that Snow Leopard will definitely support it. The only way to use Blu-Ray on an Apple notebook is with Windows AFAIK.
