Hey everyone my girlfriend just bought the airport express and is having trouble setting it up. She said she hooked up the express to the wall and connected it to her dsl modem and then connected the modem to the ethrenet port in the wall. After install AirPort utility on her macbook pro she tried setting up the express but it can't find it. The express has a flash orange light and I read the manual and it says it can't establish a network connection. We've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and tried multiple ethrenet cords but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

not sure i understand the setup. There should be a phone hook up from the DSL modem to the wall, then the Airport express has an ethernet cable connected from it to the DSL modem...

make sure you have restarted your DSL modem...

does the modem have its own switch or router built into it?

It's not malfunctioning at all. Just plug the AE into the wall then plug in an ethernet cable from your computer to the AE, and run airport utility. Setup the connection type, create the network, then plug the DSL modem into the AE and you should be good to go.

seems like an ip conflict. which brand is it?if its netgear just like mine, then go on to www.routerlogin.net then head on to basic settings, and set the internet ip to 192.168.1.2. be sure to disable the dhcp service in your new router.
