Hey guys, I work with my mac (Macbook Unibody Late 2008) and my buddy with his crappy $150 netbook running Windows XP. It seems that his netbook is able to find significally more wireless networks than I can get with my airport card. The networks we both can find, his netbook always has a FAR better signal than what my Macbook and pull. Can anybody let me know if theres some kind of issue with my airport card or is there something i dont know about with wireless networks....Let me know if you have any questions about my hardware to better answer my question. Thanks guy!!!

What are you using to find the networks? Maybe OS X does not show networks with low signal? Or it could be the Alum case. try istumbler, see what it shows.

*Edit* Not sure if istumbler works properly with SL.

i know for a fact that the aluminum enclosure does not help in getting better signals. may be that's the reason for you not able to pick several networks. it could be they are too far from the laptop.

Well you could always try to create a new network location and then set the service order for Airport to the top of the list in Network preferences. This is a common issue so I wouldn't jump the gun right away thinking your computers wireless card is busted. IF you know how to make network configuration changes to the router you could always try changing the channel as well. If not then your going to have to call Apple Care and then possible visit an Apple Store. Hope that helps.

it's the aluminum case, All my unibodies get alot of signal drop on wireless networks compared to almost any other machine. and YES I find this on more than 1 or even 20 units

Well if you tried changing the channel on the router then it looks like your Apple Store bound.
