I was wondering if anyone had any idea who produces Apple's Airport extreme cards? I'm wondering if it could be Atheros, because its the only other wifi card I have seen have as good as a range as airport does.

They are actually produced by Broadcom (at least the older ones were). Only reason I remember is because when I was running Debian on my iBook there was a big hulabaloo over the fact that they wouldn't release the code so developers could get them to work under Linux.

My MacBook Pro uses Atheros. I believe all Apple's have moved to Atheros. I found out when I used Boot Camp. In Windows it showed up as Atheros.

I had a hunch it was Atheros, because it's the only wifi brand I seen have such range and good connectivity.

I'm glad to see that Apple is holding up on their end by only having the best for their products.
