Hi, I previous put in a 320 GB 7,200 RPM Western Digital HDD into my Macbook (last gen) and now I would like to install a 500 GB one. My question is strait forward, and that is what is the most cost effective solution for transferring all of the contents of my current HDD point A to point B, B being the new one.
Also, the solution can be both self/non-self serviceable.
Thanks!

The most cost effective is the free one. Well almost, you will need a $20 HD case if you don't have one. And use disk utility to clone your drive.

If you want to keep the old disk for an external, then I would just get a case for it and clone the drive.
Otherwise, this is nice to have around:

As for the cloning, you can download SuperDuper! for free and make a bootable clone. The easiest way is probably to do that with the old drive in the computer and then swap them after the cloning. You could also probably achieve this with Time Machine. -
Also there is CarbonCopyCloner to make a bootable copy.
Any HDD to HDD transfer solutions?
