That is probably because you are reading Apple related articles plus the fact there are substantially more Windows fans than Apple fans. The Apple fanboys come out in full force on any Vista or Windows 7 article.

Yeah I try not to read comments on sites like those. May it be a Apple related article or not, most the comments make you wounder the mentality of a lot of people.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
A week ago I was at a local FRYS at the checkout area. I remember there was a guy infront of a guy that was infront of me and was using a android phone.
The guy infront of my whipped out his iphone and started browsing with 1 hand while holding something he was going to buy with the other hand. (Sorry not trying to sound perverted!).
The android phone guy took quick a glance and just had a little smirk on his face and started using his android phone with 2 hands (actually leaning foward on the rails to be comfortable).
Anyways after I saw that my iphone rang and I answered the phone with 1 hand and talked for a minute and shortly after I just started using my iphone googling stuff or forums. Then the guy with his android phone just put his phone in his pocket and just looked straight away still waiting in the long line while the guy infront of me and I had a smirk on our faces. -
Yes I did actually, and it wasn't me ... actually I almost did it once with a serious issue I had with hard drives in mine -
Or it could also mean, I really want one but cant afford it so I'll just hate it end of story. -

It gets a bit tiring but it's always from Windows users who are ignorant or what macs can do or how OS X works.
For example, many of them don't know OS X is UNIX based, has a proper permissions system (hello UAC??), tougher for viruses/spyware to get into, doesn't have a registry (with all of those issues), doesn't need to spend hours defragmenting. It's like a shiny buffed linux distro which has had a lot of work done usability wise (it's SO human friendly and easy to use).
Because technically it is a more advanced and robust OS. They are ignorant of those facts so call mac users 'shallow' because all they have seen is the marketing and assume that's why we bought in.
I bought in for 2 reasons:
1) Great build quality
2) UNIX based OS X with lots of great front end features and built with usability in mind. -
Just so everyone knows, I'm at the other opposite end of the spectrum being a Windows/Linux user so you will notice at least some hate towards Apple in my post.
I have tried a Mac, couldn't stand it. Too dumbed down for the computer illiterate people (what? I'm a power user), and I absolutely hate the GUI (IMHO it's just fugly).
As well, I could afford one, I'd just rather get a computer that can do the same thing for less. Why bother with OS X when I can get Linux for free or run Windows because I like the .Net Framework for GUI development and to game.
1) You could also look at a high end Windows PC. Counter point, a well designed system shouldn't need to use the entire computer case as a giant heatsink.
2) True, but I still think the GUI is fugly.
Now, I do expect to be flamed but let's keep the debate clean. -

I don't call my friends fanboys because they own Macs. I think they could have made better decisions when buying their laptops, given their needs, but they aren't fanboys. One knows about as much about computers as I do, and he got his Mac because he was tired of dealing with viruses (he got a terrible one that pretty much wrecked his previous computer). My other friend has fanboy tendencies, and I will be keeping an eye on him to keep him in line
. Neither seems like what I think of when I imagine a Mac fanboy, which would be someone who doesn't really know anything about Macs, but buys them because they have lots of money and thinks Macs are pretty, and then looks down on people who don't have Macs.

I remember seeing Jeff Goldblum's macbook in Independence Day and though I had dabbled in Mac in those days, I was relatively unfamiliar at that time. I wondered what it was he was allegedly doing to "upload a virus" to the alien ship. I saw the movie again recently and I recalled what I thought then as a Windows user and what I think now as a Mac user. Now I see it as "just a computer" whereas then there was a certain mystery since I didn't really know what it could do.
Can I do more with my Macbook than I ever could with Windows? No. Do I waste nearly as much time fixing things on my Macs as I used to waste on Windows? Heck No. To me that's the difference. It works as well for the things I do and it doesn't waste too much of my time. The day my Mac starts cutting into my valuable time is the day I start looking for other options. Right now, I have several Macs and 2 Linux boxes. I like the stability of both OS's but I prefer the ease of use of OSX. For now.
When windows users ask my opinion and I suggest they get a Mac to put all that controlpanelregistryviruscandriver misery out of their lives, they assume I'm being a fanboy. Nope. Apple gear simply works better these days. -

ps. mac osx and ms windows are just the same thing... and speaking of how often i disagree with most apple users, and loved my IBM tablet over my mbp; i convinced my friend getting the a mbp anyways -
(And no I did not want to put so many eclamation points, it's just that messages need to be at least 10 characters long...) -
Any Mac owners tired of being perceived as a Mac fanboy?
