I'm curious as to how the Penryn 2.4Ghz stacks up to the older 2.4Ghz processors since the Penryn only has 3MB L2 vs the 4MB L2 of old. Definitely be an interesting match-up!

they are not much faster than the T7700 or T7500.

also read a PC-mag test of them.
it is the biggest waste for now seriously, do you pay 100US more or even 200 more to get this kind of performance ?
if you like to get latest like me , just wait till the MONTEVINA with newer version of Penryns just announced a fewdays back.
http://www.trustedreviews.com/cpu-m.../Intel-Centrino-2-Mobile-Platform-Detailed/p1
they are all seriously better than older meroms but current Penryns are not , just 3 percent or 5 percent faster than meroms of latest but current penryns(T9300, T9500) are much more expensive than T7xxx series CPUs. -
Yep, thanks for those links! I couldn't help but be disappointed with the update this week. Ah well...
-
Im happy with the Penryn

(I kid, I kid...)
Welcome to the Mac club btw. -
It still was a very much needed upgrade for the MBP. I think i will wait for the Montevinas tough.

There was one comparing the MB, MBP (both CD and previous version of C2D) to the new Penryn version linked from Engagednet...

Anandtech put their review up
http://www.anandtech.com/mac/showdoc.aspx?i=3246
They reported significant battery life gains. -
Wow... so doing the same things... the MBP has a good bit more battery life than the MBA.
It's sad to see how little battery life my Yonah gets compared to them. -
I consider it just a very small update to keep their current product in line with current technology. It will wet your whistle for the big update at end of the year...that will be the perfect time to buy. -
Any Penryn benchmarks yet with the MBP?
