I had returned the unibody Macbook I bought last December primarily due to the low quality screen. I'm wondering if anyone has comparison photos between the two (especially at different viewing angles), as I'm seriously considering purchasing the 13" again.
Thanks in advance.

I just had an aluminum macbook last week....looked really good. Trading for the new 13 macbook pro which I think has an even better screen. Not sure but I think they may have had 2 or 3 upgrades in the screen since december.
-
I think there are a few pictures of the new 13" MBP on Mac Rumors.
-
yes and the aluminum bottom seems pretty amazing.
-
yeah it all looks pretty amazing here:

i hope they have fixed the screen though, it was nowhere near as gorgeous as some sonys -
screen fixed! brilliant!
i love the 15" MBP's screen and now that the 13" matches it, i think im sold! -
I beg to differ - I am coming from a Sony Z590 to the Macbook Pro and there is no campairson in the screens the Sony if much much nicer.
-
wow, no ExpressCard, instead you get SD... simply stupid, I have mine working with an eSATA card and a 5.1 Soound card.. with the newer 15 inch, I won't be able to do any of that.. Something like this would have likely worked for SD perfectly...
-
That's a pretty cheap price, lol.
-
The macbook pro screens are pretty exceptional - as long as you don't mind glossy and deep colors. I had heard about the 13" screen issues, glad to see they are fixed as my aunty is about to buy one (I told her to wait till WWDC!)
-
sorry? I can't understand from you post which one is better
-
Change if to is and it reads: "Sony is much much nicer."
-
well, sony makes nicest LCD tvs,so it is not surprising.However,1 question-you had 1600x900 screen or "regular"?
-
Interesting. What do you mean with nicer?
Z590 has 1600*900. -
well no doubt it looks better
-
I only used my ExpressCard in my MBP for a memory card reader anyways. But I agree that they should have left ExpressCard in the 15" and just added an SD. My little 13" VAIO has all these ports and more, lol.
I also have to say the Z has a much better screen than the MBPs but I'm still considering selling it for a new 13" MBP. I just love the OS X environment... -
The LCD quality is definitely inferior than other makes, I find that if you look extremely closely the pixels are very grainy.
The glossy screen blurs out the detail from a distance.
This is why most pros prefer matte' or non-glare LCD.
I checked out the 13" next to my Dell, E6400. No question my E6400 was clearer and brighter at max brightness. Even though the E6400 was also glossy but not overly reflective.
You get what you paid for. -
when did you check them?
-
Dell E6400 with a glossy display? I did not know they existed...
What panel does your Dell have? -
I'm a little confused. Are you saying the sony has a better screen? You said you beg to differ, but the other poster was saying the sony WAS a better screen.
-
makes me wonder if everyone's grammar is perfect or something, is it that difficult to take it as sonys are better than macs on their screens?
why does it feel like primary school bullying here with several people jumps in and asking the same question anyways? -
There's no one bullying here, just people that want to understand what he means.
Also it's uncertain if he has seen the latest version of the Macbook 13" and that the Dell E6400 with glossy screen exist. So it's natural people ask for clarification. -
good to hear that. bullying might be a bold term to say but it feels funny to have the same question repeated over and over, even when clarified.
i'd love to hear the difference in vertical viewing angle on the new 13" mb"p", horizontal is good enough already, but for the previous 13" models i feel like peeking through a slim horizontal light beam, if this is any where near/better than the 15" models (and put the same screen on the white model), we have pretty much a winner for ~1k range notebook. -
Sorry but he did not clarify anything yet. And calling the display of the 13" MBP inferior or owning a Dell E6400 with glossy screen asks for clarification. Dell E6400 tend to have very mediocre screens.
So I'd be interested in his answers.
I don't know if you followed but it seems to be limited at SATA I speed.

Edit: Some problems with one of the 13" MBP screens: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2036946&tstart=0 -
^ I just find out that my friend is working @ apple care
he said that one of display providers gave apple defected screens and they will replace them for free! He also said that he will check SATA problem with HQ
-
Ugh. First the SATA problem, now this. I was hoping I could snag a Macbook Pro 13" before June 25th when I leave California for Taiwan for a month. What do you guys think? Will Apple fix it before then? Keep in mind I'd probably have to buy it before, like, the 17th since I'd be purchasing online to avoid sales tax and I want to leave enough time for shipping.
-
What kind of information did you get on the screen? Was it just a single provider? A specific model?
-
People are complaining about the color saturation of 9C9F screens.
-
Is that the only model facing problems?
-
That I heard of yes.
It's strange because the same model was used on MBA and people never complained about it's color saturation. -
There's a bunch of deep-down settings that could affect it, actually. Can't remember where to find it anymore but certain basic, uncommon settings have remedied things like screen flickering in the past.
Sort of like Apple Store display units. A good idea is to do a complete reinstall as some use a special disk image that has strange display settings.
Any comparison photos between the new 13" MBP and the old unibody 13" Macbook?
