I am thinking of making this combination my main computer but lack experience with SSD in my MBP. It is my first MAC. I like it, but the stock 5400 HD is a bit slow. Thanks.

I own a mid-2010 15" MBP and a 120 GB Intel 320 SSD. It's blisteringly fast. Quite often the system would be booted into OS X before the little spinning 'gear' even had a chance to appear on the screen. Most apps would launch in 1-2 bounces, at most.

    That being said...

I've taken the 320 out of my MBP and replaced it with the 500 GB Scorpio Black that I was using prior. The Intel 320 series currently have a firmware issue that can cause them glitch and show the capacity as 8 MBs, rendering the drive essentially useless. So I'm waiting until they release a firmware update (which should be soon, according to Intel postings on their support forums). I'm sure it'll be fixed before long, but you should be aware of this before you buy.

Thanks. I am using the 320 in my desktop and have recently found out about that bug. Yes, it will be good when they fix it. I hope they CAN fix it!

Seems with SSD's, which were SUPPOSED to be an order of magnitude due to lack of moving parts, are even MORE requiring of backups due to their weird bugs that render them useless immediately, with no warning. Sheesh folks, what the hell is up with THAT???

Still, I am going to try it when I get the time :)

I thought the issue of 8MB only affected the 512GB 320s?

I was looking to pick one up myself (80gb) so I'll be following thread.

It seems that laptops are less likely to be affected by this though.
