I just got a MBPro, and I was trying to use Front Row but scrolling through the menu was teeth-clenchingly slow.

As an example, I clicked "Movies", and then tried to scroll through them. It would take a full 10 seconds to go to the next one down after I hit the "down" button on the remote. If I hit it multiple times, it would simply scroll down multiple times, taking 10 seconds in between each movement.

So is this normal? Is there anything I can do to make it go faster? I've got 2gb of ram coming from Newegg, right now it's only got 1gb. Will that make a big difference?

This is a brand new laptop, I just took it out of the box today, and I don't see how the program could be messed up so soon.

thats normal, front row performance is sluggish on my macbook too. i've got 2.0 GHz and 1GB of RAM.
i don't think getting more RAM will make a difference. apple front row is just slow ATM, maybe the next OS version will fix this "leopard". that movie trailer preview in frontrow is tied to ur internet connection; but i know that there are sluggish performance throughout the entire system so i think that the program performance is just not good.

hey btw, there is a hot key you might be interested in.

press "apple"+"esc" to lauch front row without the remote.

and if front row is so slow and you wanna quit

press "alt"+"apple"+"esc" to lauch force quit that enable you to close front row.

Hmm, it was really slow for me too, but I figured that was my lack of RAM (I have 512MB). Guess not, but I still need more RAM lol.

If you're browsing trailers, it's because it's loading some stuff off their servers.
I don't know really what it loads, but it's normal there.

    You definently need more ram.
