I don't want to "pirate" any movies, but would like to rip DVD's that I bought into my computer so I can put them on my iPod.
Are there ways to rip copy protected DVD's with many chapters/episodes etc?
Which software allows me to do it? Is it legal?

As long as you're not sharing it, I believe that it is legal. Making a copy of something that you own falls under fair use.
Edit: After further reading, the distribution of tools that can bypass encryption is illegal under the DMCA, but the use of those tools for fair-use purposes is legal.

Each country has its own laws regarding this so you need to look up your local laws and see if what you want to do is illegal or whether it falls in the fair-use-type acts.
I use a program called RipIt (version 1.5.1 is the latest). It's really simple and allows ripping the full movie or compress for portable devices, iPods etc.... Although it's not a free program, I highly recommend it. I got it through the last MacHeist deal. -
There is no mention of paying anything for RipIt on their site??
How much is it and how do you purchase?
Any way to rip DVD movies into my hard drive?
