I swear, every time I'm running my uMBP from battery, I'm constantly checking the amount of time I have left and trying to figure ways to increase that time. Yes, CONSTANTLY. Whenever I can, I'm using the a/c adapter.
Even though I may see 6-7 hours left, I'm still not satisfied.![]()
And just about every time I am running the battery, I'll open up Coconut Battery to make sure I still have a 100% charge hold left....even though my umbp is 7 weeks old with only 4 cycles...
I admit, I have a problem.![]()
Let me hear some of you fellow NBR's stories.

There are many many medications for OCD, some with minimal side effects. I know because I think I border on OCD too.

Last I know, I checked my battery´s status with coconut battery (great little utility btw) like once a week or after lots of charge cycles but that´s it.
When I got my first laptop, I was also constantly checking my battery status and figuring out ways how to improve it but I in the end I was spending so much time trying to improve my runtime that I actually spend less time using my precious battery charge for the work I wanted to do on my laptop in the first place. -
Yes I think you have a problem!
Time to put the lappie down and back slowly away..
your sanity may depend on it.

The cure to your problem is here: http://www.hyperdrive.com/HyperMac-External-MacBook-Battery-and-Car-Charger-s/91.htm
I bought the 100 watt-hour model, and first used it the other day with my 13" MBP, which had 84% battery when booted. First thing the HyperMac did was charge the MBP's battery to 100%, and then it proceeded to deliver power for another 30-40 minutes or so, at full speed and brightness (the Mac thinks it's on wall-wart power, so it doesn't automagically throttle down.) Then I checked the HyperMac unit: still getting all five lights, so I was still good to go for another 13-14 hours, if needed.
Great product, works exactly as advertised, the company has great customer support, including live chat, too. It will scratch your itch! -
Wow. That product looks amazing. The price tag will require me to save up. I may end up purchasing it..
I forgot to include in the original post. I'm also very OCD about the screen as well, making sure not a single smudge/fingerprint is on it.
Was this how all MBP owners started out?

I do a full discharge on the 28th of each month to keep my battery healthy , I only use my 17" as a desktop replacement and want to keep as good as possible in case it is needed , power cut or whatever.

No, just the one who should seek professional help.

I never look at my battery power till it complains to me I need to jack in again
-
I always look at my battery power, but since i've switched from showing the remaining time to the percentage, it seems like the battery doesn't last as long
. But I know thats not true. I'm more OCD about the smudges on the screen, since the glass goes to the edge of the screen I get annoyed when other use the computer and touch the shiny bezel.

one of my biggest pet peeves is when people touch my screen (whether at work or on my laptop at home). it drives me nuts and i cringe every time someone does it, at which point i politely say dont touch the screen. but i digress from the OP topic. i dont constantly stare at the battery status when it is discharging but i do look every couple minutes. it's just a habit really, i know i dont need to look as often as i do but i just do.

LOL im exactly the same xD except my MBP has 167 charge cycles after 3 months its still at 100% capacity though LOL -
Mine is at 360 cycles after soon 11 months, health is 96 %. I am very impressed, actually.

my battery was at 97% capacity when i bought it
, but the screen is fantastic so
-
the battery on my 13" mbp is doing strange things- I get from 4 to 7 hours
-
depends on what you are doing at the time... pretty normal for a laptop? XD
Anybody else being OCD about their battery life?
