I am having some issues with Safari 5 freezing and quitting, just as I navigate to a new website. It happens a few times a day.

    Anyone else seeing this behaviour?

None at all here, on an iMac or on an ASUS laptop. I'd suggest repairing permissions as your first step... and if that doesn't fix it try a fresh install of Safari.

Rogue, is this happening on specific websites? or just at random?

for the record: I've never had any browser freeze up on me in my 2 weeks with a mac. :)

It seemed sluggish the first time I used it but its fine now. I'm usually pretty critical of a new version so I may have been just looking for something to be wrong.

mine did get stuck and I had to force close it a little while ago.

I think it got stuck on a website that was trying to play sound. don't know if it was mp3 or flash-based, but I switched pages as it was trying to load (had been to the page looking for a picture prior to and heard the music the first time) and got the never-ending spinning ball.

I think it has to do with SIMBL. I removed it and now no crashes.

Same here. Not only that, it seems more stable and faster than 4 (for me anyhow).

PDF files won't open in Safari 5...is anyone else having this issue? I already have Adobe Acrobat Reader (the latest version) and I even tried reinstalling it using the plug in from Apple's website.

No success in fixing the problem...

Is it different for Windows or something? Is it just not looking for the plug in in the right area?

No problem with S5 here. I like it better than 4 and have switched to it from Firefox.

Well, I too am getting these frequent 5 second freezes every time I change tabs or open a new one or click on any link or type in google search. Its very frustrating. I'm using it on Windows. This is only happening in Safari, Chrome and Opera working smooth

Safari 5 gives me troubles as well. Random freezes and stuff, especially on flash sites (go figure). But meh, for the most part it works. I suggest you try out Mozilla or even Chrome (assuming it wasn't as buggy as it first came out (well I guess that's why they call it Beta, lolz. I haven't used Chrome since the Beta)
