I did not notice this when using the 500GB model on my MacBook Pro but that's a while ago as I'm using Intel X25-M instead these days. My girlfriend doesn't face any issues running the 320GB model in her Acer TimeLineX 4820TG either.

But hey! This wont the the first time around Seagate have made some flaws in their firmware.. I normally stay away from their drivers because of really horrid experience but the Momentus XT is one of a kind when you need more than say 120GB and wont pay loads of cash on a really expensive but blazing fast SSD.

I stopped using Seagate with the first generation of 7200.4 drives. Looking at the engadget review I see that users are complaining about the same issues.

Hitachi 7K500 all the way! I have never seen a single complaint about that.

I have two of them, one in my MBP and one in my HP DV9500T. I have had no problems with either one.

I am using one in a Dell xps m1710 and I didn't have any problem with it so far (I have used it for more than a year every day at least 8 hours a day minus weekends), I am quite happy with it actually.

No problems here. I did ensure that I upgraded to the recommended firmware for the drive ( SD24) I have been using the drive in my 2009 MBP for 6 months now.

your new hard drive is not covered... and you cause physical damage while doing the change, its not covered, but it will not void your warranty.
