Does anyone have experience running Aperture on both the MB and MBP? I am particularly wondering if the dedicated graphics card of the MBP really makes a difference in running a program such as this, or Lightroom for example.

    Thanks!

You can run it, but it isn't officially supported (because of some aspects of Aperture that do require the dedicated GPU, and also because of screen resolution).

Aperture makes extensive use of "Core Image", one of the foundation features of OS X, which is GPU accelerated. It will use the CPU if the GPU isn't powerful enough (i.e. on a MacBook), but it will be much slower.

If you're planning on buying Aperture or Lightroom, a MacBook Pro would be the better option to go with, but if you must go with a MacBook, you will be able to run it with some performance limitations and workflow limitations.

Early reports from people who have purchased the new MacBook Pros with the 8600M GT are reporting pretty significant performance increases with Aperture even from the previous gen MacBook Pro.

It will run, and as of version 1.5 is supported. However, it will not run as well as a MBP would run it. If you are serious about using it a lot, go with a MBP.

Aperture will run fine on macbook and of course, mbp

Minimal requirements is 'Core 2 Duo with 2 gigs recommended'
Thou 2g ram is recommended Aperture will run fine on 1g. The softwears engine relies more on cpu power(core image) than ram anyways.

I used to use Aperture on my Macbook, but I switched to Lightroom as it's much faster.
