and no more Stevie Jobs doing it..

I'm shocked to hear, seriously...I guess with the economy down pulling out of future expos may help cut cost, but Steve Jobs not presenting the keynote means something's up, and I do believe its his health.
-
Agreed about something's up with Mr. Jobs health.
-
Or maybe he just doesn't want to do it anymore? Bill gates has retired. It's now time for Jobs. He's been doing it a long time.
-
Its probably his health : /.
-
Doh this is obvious. Psystar kicked Apple out of its spot.

I am so lucky to have lived the era of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Even at the highest and lowest points, these two companies have done so much and has made computing a lot of fun for millions. I loved the rivalry between myself and friends and between Jobs and Gates and who is greater. I will say that they are both great and brought different stuff to the table. I know Jobs is not done nor gone yet but I thank him for what he has done and this is coming from a PC guy.

What a pity.

I don't see this (no macworld) as a huge problem. Over the past few years apple has been releasing more and more stuff by press conference, which gets just as much if not more press then the coverage at trade shows @ a fraction of cost.
As for Jobs health, well thats up for debate, but it could be just a case of if were pulling out of macworld then why send the big guns in, also its a good time for the young guns to get some batting practice at a big event that is no longer critical for apple, as one day SJ will step down, and then those guys will have to step up.
a
ps the only real downside to this news is that this puts a huge downer on any new products being launched at the event, so no new netbook... the best we can hope for is a refreshed mac mini, and maybe a 17" mbp. -

I think if its not his health, it is a good idea to diversify his role more. It is so true that Apple is Jobs and Jobs is Apple; if anything goes wrong with him there is very little confidence in the company. So giving more opportunities for Jony Ive and Phil Schiller to appear is good, I assume after Jobs leaves it will be up to those two plus Tim Cook to lead the company (probably with Cook as CEO symbolically).

Or maybe he wants to be "gray cardinal"?
so if something goes wrong, nobody blames him,f.e.-"Why no matte screens?" "Cos His Jobsness wants that!"
