Does Snow Leopard Support TRIM yet and should i buy the same SSD model from the Apple Store or buy an Intel X-25 -M?
-
Snow Leopard does not support TRIM, and it would be better if you bought the Intel X-25-M rather than the one Apple supplies. Lots of good reviews are around on the Internet for it.
Edit: Not sure when Apple will update Snow Leopard to support TRIM, but there is a growing SSD user base so... Apple will likely implement it sometime this decade. There are SSD drives that provide support for TRIM though, like the ones with the snazzy Sandforce thing-a-ma-jig. -
Actually I found this posting that makes me wonder if TRIM support is closer than it really seems: Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro (Early 2010) Reviewed: Shaking the CPU/GPU Balance - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News
So, if you buy an SSD drive now it's more likely Apple will include support for TRIM sometime soon (hopefully "this-year" soon). -

Snow Leopard does not support TRIM just yet, although it seems they are heading towards it.
I would suggest a SandForce controller SSD drive, as these TRIM on-the-fly anyways, so do not slow down over time - such as the Mercury Extreme or the OCZ Vertex 2 drives. High speed drives without the flaws of the indilinx controller.
