    I know for sure this is a non-unibody 17".
You may ask for the s/n and look it up on apple website to get more information.

The "8600M GT" sticks out. Those GPUs are bound to fail, especially in the high heat environments that are Apple laptops. If the machine is without a warranty i'd suggest not buying it.

The seller is asking $900cad, but i think $800cad will do it...

How about the OS listed, is it the most current version?

Id say over priced and I would run from the Nvidia 8600 especially if there is no applecare left

Those cards were rather famous for blowing up and requiring you to replace the motherboard, didnt matter what manufacturer used them.

I don't know about Canada, but here in the states Microcenter is selling the new plastic unibody Macbook for $799 after rebate. Not a bad machine as long as you don't need high powered graphics.

It is a Late 2007 17". For $800 if it is in good condition it is a good deal especially if it has some AppleCare left. Though this model does not have the MultiTouch trackpad which IMO is worth the extra for a Early 2008 model.

Those specs could also easily be a 15" screen so i would double check if you want a 17. I have been looking at 15" macbook pro's to replace my t61 thinkpad. Lovely machine until the mother board mysteriously blew up. All evidence points to the nvida card overheating as the reason.

fwiw, i am just about ready to purchase a 15" 2.4 unibody from the apple refurb page for 1299.00. I believe that is one model change later than the machine you are looking at.

I like it too. But I also know what it will look like 2-4 months down the road (i.e., scratched, dirty, etc.).
