How good is Apple online delivery in Ontario, GTA?
I have been thinking about buying an Macbook through their online store but I don't know how good they are?
What is the average delivery time?
Any issues with their delivery? (Broken notebook, Not meeting specs)
Who does Apple use for their delivery? UPS? Canada Post?

Its pretty good. Took about 10 days to get my MBP. They used FedEx, everything was intact, and what I ordered.
I wouldn't worry about the shipping. -
I thought Apple would have it ship out in 24 hours.
Where is the Apple Warehouse distribution? In the States? -
With the Macbook it would probably take less time, as the MBP stocks in Canada were pretty depleted. You couldn't find them in any of the major retailers like Futureshop, Best Buy, London Drugs ect ect. They had to ship mine right from China.
If they have the MacBook in stock (which is likely) it would probably ship out pretty fast.
As for where there Warehouse is, it is somewhere in the states. Mine went from China, to Alaska, to states, and then finally back up to Vancouver. -
my macbook pro took exactly one week from china, that was the faster shipping.
my friend ordered a white macbook on a tuesday and it arrived the friday the same week. so yeah, id say they are pretty good. -
they usually use Purolator or FedEx.

Took about 13 days for my MBP to arrive with standard shipping. But that is for the Macbook Pro which ships in about 7-10 business days. They shipped with FedEx (I also got the rebates, the iPod shipped with Purolater and the printer with UPS). So I'm not sure which it ships with. But from seeing other posts the majority seem to be shipped with FedEx.
The Macbook should ship within 24 hours (as per their site), than I'd say would probably arrive 3 days later?
I thought that they all shipped from China, at least mine did. Then it went to Anchorage, Arkansas than to Memphis, Tennessee than finally to Vancouver, BC. (all in 3 days)
So yeah, I would say that their online delivery is pretty good. Their estimates seem to be pretty accurate. -
got my MPB this may took 3 days to get to me from order, yep 3 days with normal shipping. Pretty damn fast if u ask me

Dal, your siggy's awesome. Its exactly what I did yesterday. I intend to still use Windows, but through Parallels instead. Its got some pretty awesome features, but I digress.
I purchased my MacBook Pro online July 23rd, circa 2007. I'm in the United States, and a quick chat with Apple customer service says that whatever's on the order status page is the accurate date. But for me, I got a range of ship dates on the page. For the estimated ship date, it says August 1st to August 6th. For the estimated delivery date, I get August 3rd to August 10th. I like to think optimisticly a lot for everything and so my take is that I'll get it August 3rd. -
I ordered a macbook 3 weeks ago and have them shipped to me (I live ~100km away from GTA) and I received it in 5 business days. The unit was in stock and they had to ship it from Pennsylvania -- I assume their warehouse is there.
However, I must say, that I will probably never buy a computer from the online Apple Store again because of the hassle of returning the unit (my macbook has a single dead pixel and squishy unresponsive mouse button). In the end, I have to settle with the minor defect and fix the button on my own.
I'll buy computers from an Apple Store next time but that means I have to spend money on gas... which is a bad thing since the closest Apple Store is in Toronto (and they are the only ones who accepts education discounts). -
If I happen to get a defective Macbook, who do I turn to?
Can I sent it to a Mac Store?
Is the Apple customer service any good at dealing with these issues? -
The way it works is if your computer is defective within the first 14 days, you can ship it back to them for a full refund or replacement. After the first 14 days everything falls under the warranty. So you have to take it into an Authorized Apple Technician. These can be found at Apple Stores, or many local computer shops are also authorized for repair Macs (Apple website will have a list of local places you can go).
You take it into the tech, the diagnose the problem, and then put in a work order for replacement parts. As long as the problem was not caused by accidental damage, or user tampering it will be fixed free of charge. Time for repairs varies depending on the problem.
I found Apple CS people to be very helpful, and friendly. -
