It seems Macworld Uk has reported that Apple has announced that there will be no keynote speech this year by Jobs.

Guess that appears to rule out any announcement about merom at the upcoming expo.

Update: It also appears that a Chinese report stated that Apple was getting their current notebook line (MB and MBP) ready for Merom, remember that China produces Macbook and MBPs.

There is also a rumor that there will be a keynote in Cologne for a photo expo September 25. Many assume an new Aperature. I am hoping for an announcement from Adobe.

I don't think this rules out an announcement of Merom either at the expo, or before or after it. Honestly, announcing Merom-availability isn't really even keynote-worthy. I think that Apple will just release them at some point, just like they did when they upgraded the Yonah processors in the MBP's. If they are going to wait until the Paris Apple Expo, they don't need Steve Jobs specifically to announce that they are now available.

Yeah. I hadn't actually heard of this event before (Photokina), but apparently in the photography world it is a huge deal (the equivalent of Macworld SF for photography people). Apparently a lot of people are anticipating the release of the Leica M8 Digital, which is supposed to be a big deal. The general idea is that if Apple is expecting to make a splash, they will need to have something pretty big there (i.e. more than just an Aperture update). Will be interesting at least.

Would definitely be cool if Adobe has something to say about CS3 (and being a Universal Binary) as well.

I doubt Adobe deviates from their apparent plan of releasing the next version of things in 2007 and with that making the transition to universal binary. But one can hope :)

As for the keynote, it's been cancelled every year since 2003 now I think? There should still be some event(s), maybe something small and relatively unannounced like the February event where they released the Intel Mac Mini, soon... what with Merom MBP and new iPods looming on the horizon according to all the rumours.
