Hey everyone,
Looking into buying a macbook, never owned a apple before but very impressed. Just wondering how the performance is on games, and if they could play higher graphic ones like call of duty 2?

The MacBook is a very fast little nobebook, but it only has an integrated GMA950 graphics system. Its great for business graphics, and low end gaming but the settings you'd have to use to get great frame rates on modern 3d games might limit you to low or medium
The MacBook Pro's have dedicated graphics cards more suitable for gaming.
Either can be dual booted with Windows XP SP2 if you are talking about running Windows games (a fair number are also released for the Mac but not near as many as Windows)
Hope this was more what you were looking for. -
with the GMA 950? Highly doubt it could play Call of Duty 2. Anything beyond Half life 2 and Sims 2 is too much for it ...
-
CoD2 will work on GMA950 but who said it had to be too amazing?
Personally if you're going to drop $1300+ for a notebook -- find one with a graphics card capable of playing most games. Therefore I think Apple is a ripoff for what you get, in terms of games. -
Haha not exactly "rip-off", but Macs just aren't for gaming, because the MacBook doesn't have a graphics card, and there's very little games for Mac and they're usually out half a year after the PC version.
If MacBook had a decent graphics card, I'd give it a look. But, I'm pretty much "stuck" with MacBook Pro if I ever decide to get a Mac (which is tempting, but no money!). -
Quite. Your only real choice, if you want to game on a macbook, is to get a macbook pro. The x1600 is capable enough. The macbook's gma 950 ... not so much. It'll be on par with Windows laptops that have the gma 950, which is to say... not good gaming. That is not counting the lightweight games and the 2d games.

Would it out perform something like an acer 5100?

?????????????????????????

The acer comes with a 1100 express which is supposed to be better than a GMA950, but there is not a huge difference.
