Hi all, Have you checked out the recent refreshes of the Desktop line? There have been a few bumps in processor speeds, HDD size upgrades, and some video card upgrades. Also, there was a Time Capsule upgrade also. Post any comments, suggestions, or any thoughts about the refresh earlier today...![]()

I like the new Mac Pro desktops. Very smooth, nice updated and it can now run a 24 LED.

Yeah, we got new units into my BBY today. I looked at the box and was like, "hmmmmm..."
Should be on display by the end of the evening.
Oh, and my Apple corporate rep said there is new AirPorts. -
I wouldn't need the dual Xeons...thats my only issue. Dual is overkill for some Imovie and Final Cut Express work isnt it?
-
you can always add one later
-
-
Nothing wrong with overkill. Go dual
I do feel a bit bad though, I finally convinced my friend to buy a Mac two weeks ago. She ordered it, and it was delivered today.
Maybe I'll get lucky and they shipped her a new one (They delayed shipping it for a week), but I'm going to feel awful if she just received last year's model the day the new ones arrived. Unfortunately, she did a CTO, so it is not returnable. -
The best of luck to your friend on getting the updated system!
-
So Best Buy has these models in their stores? I don't think that I've ever seen a Mac Pro in our local Best Buy store. They have the other models though.
I'd like to get my hands on a Nehalem system to try out one of the new instructions in Nehalem to see what kind of performance boost is possible. -
I feel awful. -
Well don't let it ruin your day!
They always say, "what she doesn't know, won't hurt her"

I wish you could configure the cheapest 24" iMac with a 4850.
Its really nice to see an updated mini. I loved my Core Duo mini! -
I might have to go down to an Apple Store to see if I can do my testing. I don't know if they'd let me download an executable onto their system to run a performance benchmark. I don't think that their systems are preloaded with their development tools to build from source.

A friend of mine bought a PowerMac G5 at a CompUSA store once (he couldn't wait). That's about the only place I've seen them outside the Apple Store. Too bad they're gone now.

And we have one Mac Pro; it's for store-related use.
-
-
-
However the Time Capsule update is for related use with the iDisk feature of MobileMe.
The AirPort Extreme Base Station and AirPort Express updates are simply manufacturing related. They removed a toxic chemical, so nothing too interesting.

Explains why we've been sold out on both for several weeks now.

Who was the complete tool that said the mac mini picture + video was fake?
We should have a forum beat down.
Seriously. The guy made the assumption because he could draw a line accros the picture and say it's not aligned....
hahah what a legit tool

I wish the Mac Mini had a little more power even at more cost. It's perfect to have such a small computer with so many features...connected to a cinema, perfect!
In the end I think I'm going Quad Mac Pro...dual is overkill for me. -

Hey Guys,
Also note the update to the MBP. The high end MBP just got updated to the 2.66 P generation processor as well.

I did not recognize you, with your new avatar :O -

That is interesting... There is a processor boast in the higher model of the MBP with a 'new' tag on it, but there is a 'new' tag on the lower model too... whats new in it?

Check it out: www.apple.com/support/specs
The new iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, Time Capsule, Airport Extreme, 17" uMBP, and the upated glossy white macbook are all on there but the March 3 refresh of the 15" MBP isn't. I have a feeling that like another user had stated, the refresh of the 15" line wasn't particularly planned, but the as the supply of the 35w processor started to thin, Apple made a quick decision to simply switch the 2.53 35w to the 2.66 25w processor. -
switching to the 2.66Ghz is a smart move indeed as customers will not longer feel remorse after buying it, the processor difference between the 2.4GHz and the 2.5GHz seemed so little that many people were sticking to the base configuration.
