I am very happy!![]()
I realise that in the US Apple has been offering a rebate for Educational users that allows them to get a free iPod Nano. Now, finally, the UK store is catching on and today, unannounced (in true Mac fashion), the UK store began offering an £85 rebate for educational users buying a Mac that can be used against the whole iPod range!
What surprised me is that I understand the US rebate is basically a way for Apple to move the "old" (5th gen) stock of iPods. Yet in the UK, this rebate is for the new (6th Gen) stock of iPods! [£85 is the cost of the 4Gb iPod nano] Since the offer is just from September 12th, 2007, through October 30th, 2007 I guess this is an attempt to capture a share of the student market (who go back to University around this time).
Personally, whatever the reason, I am very happy they have done this as I am about to give in to my "Mac" habit and get a MBP once Leopard is released (surely a release date will be announced soon!). Since I already have a 5th gen iPod ("classic") that I am more than happy with I can give the free Nano to my girlfriend...she doesn't have to know it was free!
...Now all I need is a sudden announcement from Apple that their UK prices will be more like US prices and I'd very very happy! Hmm, here's hoping!![]()

Yeah, the same happened here in Sweden. Now you can speculate if this is a trick to move as many Macs of the shelves before introducing a new one?
Has been talked alot about new Macbooks being relvealed in a short period of time, might just be rumours, but this would be a good way to get rid of the ones they allready have

Speaking of Apple UK catching up, there's a Special Event happening in the UK on September 18th. Possibly European iPhone launch, or more iTunes content.
