Hi, I am not sure if this is strictly the correct place but nowhere seems more appropriate.
I was just asking for some clarification on the apple warranty policy.
1) is the apple warranty international? if I buy a laptop from america and keep it in england will the local apple store honour the warranty?
2) if I buy a second-hand apple laptop can you transfer the warranty to the new owner? how easy is it? how is it down?
3) What time window do you have to buy the 3yr apple care? and can you buy it if the laptop is 2nd hand and bought from someone else?
Thanks for any help.
NB: could someone change the title to 'apple warranty questions', thanks

1) Apple's warranty is always global, meaning you can go into any Apple store and they will service your Apple product.
2) The unit simply need be registered when the new owner first time logs into a fresh installation of OS X.
3) The AppleCare plan must be purchased within the first year, before the warranty expires. In the terms and conditions I do not see any restriction that it has to be the original owner. If you have the unit's serial number, you can check on the Apple website as to when the original warranty is due to expire. (this information is approximate, as it is based on registration information, not purchase information). -
So I can transfer the warranty to my name if I bought a second-hand laptop but I will only be able tohave applecare on it if the original owner bought it?

I don't see anything that prohibits you, the second owner, from purchasing AppleCare. As long as the original warranty is still in effect.

Thats great, thanks

The warranty is tied to the serial number, NOT the name of the person.

Make sure you get all the receipts for apple care and stuff. Lately Apple has been asking people who ask for warranty repairs to verify the place they bought their Applecare and the receipt for it.
