I am buying an i4 laptop. I want to make sure I get the software that gives me a word processor like Word, Word Perfect of the like. What do I order?![]()

No such word processor is shipped with Macs. You could either buy MS Office 2004 (for Word), or Corel Office (for WP), order Apple iWork for a "lighter" text editing tool or alternatively you could download REALLY GOOD and free OpenOffice.org Mac OS X (X11). Here: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html

Having used the latest version of MS Office on both Mac and PC, I can say that the Mac version of Office is better than Office on a PC. Actually, Office Mac is the reason that I type everything of importance on my iBook. I have never used a better office suite. I have heard very nice things about iWork, though, so you might want to check that out. I have never used it, though. I'm happy with Office, so I can't convince myself to buy iWork.

It is hard to be the free part of OpenOffice unless you have a specific need.
