Well I've already had three major hardware replacements on my MBP (1 logic board and 2 upper case panels + a fan but that doesn't really count) and now the temperature sensors on my new logic board are faulty so I likely need another logic board replacement. Right now this thing like to randomly hard reset just right before I try to save that homework assignment I've been working on for the past hour. According to my local on campus repair center, at this point Apple should give me a new replacement unit.
The question is, should I wait for the Peryn update (while it hit command-s every other minute)? If so what is the likely hood I can convince Apple to give me an updated unit?
I wonder what apple hardware has against PC users...![]()

are you running windows?
just curious, not like running windows would damage your system... -
No I've pretty much have used OSX exclusively on my MBP, however this is my first apple product I've purchased.

Apple will "consider" replacing it after 3 repairs in a short period of time. Even still, it's on a case by case basis.
-
Well I've had $1400 worth of repair work in the last two weeks.

I'm aware, but I also used to be an Apple tech. $1400 in repairs aren't $1400 to Apple. Your top case probably cost them $40, and if it was taken to a third party company (Apple authorised repair centre), they might have forked up to $150 to them to install it, otherwise it was paying their own tech $12-20 an hour.
The logic board might be reason for them to replace it, but that's still... "Maybe". How long do you have left on the warranty? If you don't have long to go, complain a bit more the next time and say you want a replacement unit. They might try to push for one. -
You could also try customer relations. I would first call AppleCare and tell them what has happened and politely ask them to replace it. If that does not yield the results you want call customer relations at corporate headquarters.

BTW, I also own PC's. However I almost always use Linux with them, so maybe that's the issue here - Apple resents your use of Windows. Maybe you should switch not only from Windows to OSX, but to Linux, as well? And, no, this suggestion is not serious.
Good luck.
