Apple care now or later!?

I would really appreciate if you guys can please clarify this for me, I read somewhere(I cant remember where- that is the problem) that I dont have to buy the apple care now because I get 1 year warranty with the macbook pro when I buy it which provides the same services and I can get my macbook fixed if there is any problems, but once this warranty runs out I can still buy the apple care for my laptop and this way get 4 years of support? Is this correct, because I was planning to buy the apple care plan right when I buy the laptop but it is pretty expensive and when I heard the above, I though that it is a much better option.

You can buy AppleCare anytime within the first year. Once that first year has has passed, you can no longer purchase AppleCare. In that first year of warranty, you get phone support for the first 90 days. If you buy AppleCare, you get an additional 2 years of warranty and phone support for a total of 3 years, not 4. There's no way around it, AppleCare extends the 1-year warranty two more years, but doesn't come into effect until the 1-year warranty is done, so buying it on the spot or later won't change it; you're getting 3-years of warranty!

The upside to buying it on the spot is that you get toll-free phone support continuously. Without AppleCare, warranty is 1-year but phone support is 90 days.

I would recommend getting it right away if you do plan to get it, simply because that way you won't forget once a year flies by!

 

If you supply your e-mail address with your order, then Apple reminds you just before your 1-year warranty expires. Well, at least I was given a reminder.

I actually recommend that people wait because they can score deals on eBay. Plus, IF you decide to sell the notebook before the 1-year plan expires, you likely lose less on the resale than if you had purchased Applecare...even though an Applecared MB would be worth more (obviously).

I am definitely going to purchase Applecare from eBay seller, pretty cheaper than Apple store. But I have a quick question which is strongly related to my new Macbook Pro 13" : "Does Applecare cover my battery under their policy?"

As we already know, the new generation of Macbook Pro come with non-removable battery. So that is a big concern of mine, and I do want to make sure Applecare will cover it for me.

I would get the APP if you can. I would wait until you had the computer for about 6 months until you buy it.

The APP is covered world wide as well.

Also it does not cover accidental Damage!! so remember that lol.

 

I don't know about the unibody Macbook Pro's, but I would assume the battery is covered under the warranty. I have the older MBP and Apple replaced the battery with no problems.

 

I haven't bothered with Apple Care. In the EU you get two years protection anyway with the products you buy. So if my Macbook Pro dies due to a fault within 2 years I get to send it back to apple for a free repair anyway.
