Just wondering when the next one is. I'm hoping there will be a special event like last year when they showed the new iMac, except this year a new mbp design, which would make me buy one.
Macworld is in January right, wwdc in June, I forget the other names...

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
There might be one is september for ipods, it'd be nice to get one for new laptops but I don't really see it happening.
-
if there is going to be one for laptops, they will announce it within the next 14 days.

MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
They'll probably come out with it on July 15 when the Montevina chipset is released, or on one of the Tuesdays at the end of July. -
let's just hope its the 15th. because like ive said before. all the companies, HP, Lenovo, and others are going to start shipping the second it comes out. apple will be left in the dust if they dont start shipping then too. july 14th or 15th go go!!
-
They also had an event for Aperture, Final Cut and other software of that type.
-
What are the chances of announcing a product enhancement like a montevina chipset just days after the launch of the 3g iphone? I would love to see one since I have several friends waiting for a refresh despite one just happening 4-5 months back on the mbps
-
I think 4-5 months ago was just the upgrade to Penryn processors, not a "refresh." The Macbook Pro line hasn't been redesigned since it first came out.
-
they refreshed the line by adding penryn and multitouch... think they will add any features this time? i'd be hoping for better ports. such as e-sata, hdmi, or more usb ports?
-
just hdmi would make my day. And last year they had a special event for the new iMac and iLife 08
-

I think the only way we have hope for more/different ports is if they do a total re-design.
-
Expect less events and less announcing of products at events. Apple said at MWSF 08 that events would be fewer and that products refreshes would not be announced as often. Basically they are saying that unless it is a totally new product, it will likely just show up at the store.

Fez, I hate to bust your bubble but honestly the MBP is not the only game in town. The Mac mini needs a major upgrade. The MBP has already been through it's latest in March and it hasn't even been 6 months. There are people that want the Mac mini to get a desktop class CPU or one on par with the top iMac. We would like to see a dedicated beefier GPU, more ram and HDMI.
I realize this forum is more towards lappys but you need to keep in mind that Apple's focus is currently on Mac OS development and getting the iPhone and Safari into the enterprise world. The current MBP hardware is fantastic and rather Montevenia doesn't hit the MBP soon (or a redesign) it will still sell regardless. Most consumers care less if the latest CPU is in their new Mac purchase but in all honesty I hope for the Mac mini to get the next major overhaul. -
Way to rain on my parade
Yeah the mac mini needs to be updated as well, and although the current mbp hardware is fantastic, I don't understand why they can't at least change the internals to allow for easy hard drive access. And remove the ugly screen latch button for a magnetic latch. -
So what is the next event called?
-
I'm unsure, but I really want a iMac and I am having a hard time waiting for a GPU update from them. I don't want to pay for the high end card but I want there mid-range card to be up'd!
-
Didn't they just update those? I think you will be waiting for quite a while
-
Well there is the Paris Mac event in September, but Apple has already announced they will not attend this year. So that makes MWSF 09 the next event on the books. However, Apple could call a press event at their campus at any time.
As I said though, the new MBP will likely just show up at the store sans announcement. -

Your gonna be waiting a while. Whats wrong with the 2600 they have now?
