What does Intel in Macs mean? Will it finally be able to use the same software as PCs?

it's been said that it will run windows, but I am curious if it's as easy as reinstalling or some hacking needs to be done

-that was kindof the point of this thread :) i really agree with you on that point.

What would be halrious is if someone wasted 2500 on one of these and then used windows/linux... that would be pointless. The only reason for buying a mac and using tiger/whatevertheycomeoutwithnext, and thats if your to incompetant to use windows, or if you just think appearance of notebook/os is everything.

If they made the price 2200 with a 7200 rpm drive + a 2 ghz duo then i would maybe buy it...

Where has that been officially said? I mean I understand that they won't try and stop you (like they will with trying to run MacOS on non-Apple HW) but are you really supposed to be able to boot with a WinXP disc in the drive and get Windows up?

It has been said on here many times.

Yeah the show caters to newbies, but a lot of the information is credible and turns out to be true once Jobs/Bill makes their keynote speech.

Still rumor, though. I either want a statement from Apple or working PoC before I buy one. I really want to see something like a working display driver for example.

I think Apple would be more successful if the notebook has the option of dual-booting Windows and Mac.

Seriously, why wouldn't they do that?

I believe so. They'd sell like hot cakes if they just lower their prices a bit.

If you really want an answer then I would suggest that you go to his website and post a question on his forum reguarding their source. For all you know they have an inside source who if feeing them real information. To call it a rumor would be highly immature. Especially when Apple already has Mac OS coded and working on the x86 platform. I mean how hard do you think it would be to get it running on an AMD64 X2 rig?

WoW!! 15.4" screen in a 1" package.. I was going through all the features and a few things I just wish the PC would have had. Doesn't seam to be supporting windows though, but now with intel inside, the hacks and cracks may not be far away :).

Now that Apple is out of the potato processing era, i figure many more users will switch to this wonderful system and that will prompt even more software vendors to make applications for the mac. Throw in windows application support somehow and bingo... I may also become a mac user myself. I love my ThinkPad, but its still in the shades of the microsoft and hence despite their terrific ThinkVantage tools, they may probably never provide the refinement, intutive and ease of use the OSx does.

Well, I'm just hoping now that Vista have some worthwhile improvements, but since its microsoft, i will keep my fingers crossed. i don't expect it will be like the OSX, but atleast if it makes somewhere to its vicinity, it will be some deal.

Anyway, all MAC lovers, welcome to the world of high end processing :)

Heh, Apple PPCs are still better at Video Encoding and multimedia IMO. However, I don't know too many people who are going to thrilled about shelling 2000 bucks on a new PB Pro. And that's with the slower CPU too. The high-end one costs 500 buck more.
