I don't use any and IMO you don't need one unless you like visiting suspicious sites ;)

i personally don't use an antivirus on my mac os x but i certainly use mcAfee on my windows side. I feel much safer. In mac os x, im in a world of mine, well coveted and secured whereas in windows, ...it's a totally different story.

viruses for windows not for mac. Because windows use .exe or .msi whereas macs use .dmg as file extensions.

If you really feel the need for an Anti-virus, then ClamXav is a good one. ;) I don't think it's necessary, unless you're visiting sketchy sites like Xirurg mentioned.

The most possible chance of getting a virus is downloading pirated ps x software through torrent. iread that a few months agp on engadget.

You should not be using torrents if you don't know how to be safe using them.

iAntivirus 1.0 by PC Tools. Free for personal use.
    PCWorld/MacWorld wrote a brief review
    http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/164948/iantivirus_10.html

In short, it's GUI and speed is faster than ClamXav. But they only have 100 signatures so far, and it only detects Mac viruses and does not clean up windows viruses, so you can still spread viruses to other windows users.

Yep, be careful, because many torrents on LimeWire and FrostWire have many files like that.

Exactly because Macs don't have much viruses (there's simply no use of them - Macs are designed for home-use), the only protecting software I use is a network firewall ProteMac NetMine. I've never had any safety problems. Macs are really great :)

Completely not true at all. You must got sucked into being a mac user by those false advertisement by apple.
Anyone here can agree that apple started going a little to the edge about the facts of their product advertisement.

That there are little viruses for mac. There are plenty, but just like windows you rarely get them by visiting websites. However pirated software is full of them, if your downloading a mac version of said program they know what your running and are able to put in a virus. But if your downloading music and videos there's a much less change of getting a mac virus. Get anti-virus and you don't have to worry about it though :)

Yeah your right about pirated software might have viruses. To bad most are the same virus just in different programs. There are thousands of viruses for windows but just a hand full for the Mac.

So, can you explain me what's the use of creating viruses for home-used computers?

if everyone is using the term "virus" to mean malware (which technically its not... a virus is malware, but malware can be many more things than just viruses) then some of these statements are true. No one has found a true virus for OSX, but there have been some trojans, which is impossible to defend against without updated security software specifically designed to see the specific known malware.

Apple never lied about malware, or had any false advertisements. When PC said there was 20,000 (whatever the number) viruses affecting PCs last year, Mac did NOT say "I don't get viruses or any malware, I am immune... he said... yeah, for PCs, not Macs... which by simple English means nothing more than there was not 20,000 viruses for Macs found last year. This is completely true, there was not. However the actual wording of the commercial was, the overall premiss is that the Mac is safer against viruses. If you misunderstand what they are saying, that isn't Apple's fault.
