Louis has an unhealthy thing for apple. His message is correct, but his rants drive me from ever watching or looking at anything he puts out. He comes off like a little whining child.

If you ever run a repair business with iDevices and Apple execs raid your warehouse or confiscate your refurbished oem parts having Apple logo and lose money, you will understand he's not whining and his small business is 'at risk' eventhough Apple doesn't care about environment and simply refuses to repair old product and force users to buy new products by quoting huge repair fees (for old device).

Apple increases its out-of-warranty repair costs for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2021)

The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro comes with a mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display and the option to add 5G connectivity for the first time in addition to a series-first M1 processor. However, all this comes at a premium, as cellular versions of this flagship slate now start at US$1,299 on the Apple Store.

Furthermore, Apple has updated its iPad Service and Repair page with new out-of-warrany repair costs for the new tablet. The OEM now asks no less than $699 for this first-party service in the US, as opposed to $649 for its predecessor. Its 11-inch sibling's costs have remained the same ($499), at least.

These maximum charges are levied on customers with 2021 iPad Pros that are out of warranty. However, even if they are, the OEM might still decide to charge the full whack as above on units with broken or cracked screens, or that have experienced "other accidental damage or issues caused by unauthorized modifications".

His foul mouth rants are of a petulant child. There are much better ways to go about it. Whining constantly about it does NOTHING.

I can guarantee that "apple exec's" did not "raid" his warehouse. that's hilarious if he or your say so. that would be a criminal offence. Therefore I call 100% ******** on that one.

To be fair he has done quite a bit for right to repair, essentially doing a tour along many courthouses to argue for right to repair against many companies, one of which tat surprised me was CompTIA, which was my leading reason as to why I let those worthless certifications expire.

So while he is and has the loudest mouth, its not as if that is all that surmises what can be summarized as Louis Rossman.

That all being said I would love to see him expand outside of apple as there are many a lemon out there in the wild.

Again, I agree with his message, but the way he goes about it ranting like a baby is not the correct way. It takes away from his message.

To be taken seriously, F this and F that is not the way. It comes off as childish and immature. talking to your buddies sure, trying to change a way one business does it's business via government, IT'S NOT THE WAY. They look at his videos and go who is this punk. Simple.

I had the misfortune of repairing a few iPhones, and guarantee you - whining genuinely helps with the process, and is more productive than weeping from personal exposure to Apple products' internal design.

Every single one of us should be fighting for right to repair. However he just rubs me the wrong way the childish way he gets on, that's all.

Seems like Microsoft wants to join Apple in this nonsense...

"Microsoft joins Apple and Google in opposing Right to Repair legislation"

    - Right to Repair advocates have lobbied for companies to release schematics and sell spare parts to repair shops, which are often cheaper and more conveniently located to customers, but Apple-backed association, Security Innovation Center, told lawmakers such legislation “would have gifted hackers with digital keys to thousands of Internet-connected products.”

    - “Allowing unvetted third parties with access to sensitive diagnostic information, software, tools, and parts would jeopardize the safety and security of consumers’ devices and put consumers at risk for fraud,” said David Edmonson, vice president of lobbying group TechNet, who represents Apple and Google amongst others.

Agreed, 100 percent. I don't use any Microsoft hardware. I have to use software however, but the least I can do to support companies that do not support right to repair is better.

It's not surprising when you look at the surface lineup. Not sure if they changed any but last I knew which I'll admit was maybe a couple of years now, they didn't have a repair policy, only replace for the surface lineup.

Yep. you really couldn't fix anything in the surface anyways. My husky stepped on my notebook and damaged the screen, we took it apart in like 2 min to fix it only to find out the screen was over 300 bucks plus shipping, it was not cost effective to spend that. I just bought a new device. However, the option to fix was there, and was very simple to do. I am going to set it up in my upper workshop on the peg board to keep it all out of the way. and use a 21" screen.

Yeah they lost some large clients due to that mentality. Its hard to wipe storage that you cant access with the means available to most IT groups / technicians when its soldered to the board in the event that the system is no longer functioning. It was a problem for the hospital industry due to hippa guidelines which require DoD (3 time) level data wipes before being put up for resale by ecyclers and/or recollected by Dell (which then goes to recyclers) at the end of a lease.

I like devices I can swap parts out of too. That's why the surface lineup never invaded my office. Hell, I can't even buy an XPS 2 in 1. Lack of ports, no upgradability made me buy the insprion. Now, I did get a full size sd card, 2 USB A ports, A USB C port (interestingly on that, it is supposedly a TB port just not advertised), upgradable ram and SSD, plus touch and pen support for 979.00 canadian. I gave up the cool carbon fiber palm and aluminum body, and the white color. Fair trade IMO.

I was on a comparison site and they did some speed and rendering comparsions between my inspiron and the xps 13 (non 2 in 1) and the speeds were identical.
