I was attempting to pair my remote with my macbook by holding menu and the next button. Well that didn't work. I have checked and the IR port is NOT set to disabled but the remote no longer works.
I put the remote in front of my cell phone camera and I can clearly see that every button is stil sending a signal. What did I do?![]()

I dunno, I didnt have to pair my remote, and I'm not sure what this menu and next button holding is supposed to do. I never had to do that. Worked right out of the box.
Where would you go in the menu to pair them anyway? -
This is how you pair the remote, try it: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302545
Ack, sorry, just saw that you did try it exactly that way. In that case I'm not sure what to do offhand... you just got your Mac though, so try calling AppleCare since you are within the 90 days? -
Apple remote is working again, but I still can't get it to pair properly.

i have the same problem, it seems this a bug...
when i try to pair it, nothing happens, then i can't use the ir anymore. I cannot click on "unpair" in the security pane... it's disabled. Then i restart the macbook and i can unpair, then i can click on unpair and it will work. Reproduceable. -
oh... huh, neat.
Thanks for that link Star.
