A small speed bump is always nice but they should offer the superdrive across their whole lineup.

hmmm....there goes the case redesign rumours.
-
They'll happen with Penryn maybe? Though I doubt it. The way apple's been redesigning stuff lately, it would have been modest anyways.
-
Weak. Nothing more to add. Simply weak and way off expectations...
-
Ergg, Canadian prices still higher than the US ones... Although it doesn't really bug me that much, I bought my previous-gen MacBook in September.
-
Apple is selling way too many Macbooks to waste money on a redesign. I would not look for any drastic changes for another 6+ months.
-
Anywho, Macrumours updated again - seems like there's now a 2.6Ghz option on the MBP! -
They've also updated MacBook Pros, allowing users to update to a T7800 (2.6 Ghz option).
Sorry Komarovsky, I haven't noticed that part of the post. Yes, that it true and is verified on Apple US/CA. -
Heh, it's OK
The Macbook updates and the new Macbook Pro options don't appear to be available on the UK store yet. -
Were I in the market, I'd be really happy about this. For me, running OS X doing your basic tasks, the x3100 crosses the "just good enough" line that the gma950 falls short of. (I want the built-in os effects to be smooth no matter what monitor I have it plugged into.)
-
Soon I suppose. But 5lbs isn't great at all. 3 - 4 yes, but 5 no way. It's close to the MBP.

What do you think could be the likelihood of a substantial upgrade before September 2008?
-
Well that really doesn't make me feel out of date. I bought my BlackBook in Sept for school and it's plenty fast enough for me and the battery is fantastic so I'm glad they didn't do a total redesign, atleast I still look current.
-
Alright! Time to upgrade to the new MBP!
-
Hmmm...I wonder what Apple did to lower the weight? I'm starting to think that Apple may have switched to an LED backlight. Hmmm.....
-
Oh, and of course: Gasp! 9to5 Mac was wrong! -
-
And looking at technical specs for the MacBook, there's no mention of LED though. -
It doesn't surprise me really, these incremental changes....it keeps people buying and they are in the business of selling computers (and other things, of course). It means more sales througout the year because there is a certain percentage of customers that always need the newest of what it out there, and they know it. All the computer manufacturers do the same thing.
-
The mbp speed bump hopefully isn't considered an "upgrade" and that we'll see more at MWSF.
-
the "updates" arnt very amazing for MBP.
the real goodies happen for the lower end macs.
sure they use a Intel GMA X3100....
but with 2.2ghz and 4gigs and 250gigHD who is gonna complain on such a small little guy??
i have buyers remorse...
in a way, i wish i didnt buy the baseline MBP...i mean sure its a bigger screen with better resolution
but its not like i game on this monster (128mb gpu = lame).
i dunno, guess if i could take it back id defintly reconsider a BlackMacBook w/ 4gigs and a beefy HD to mess around in garageband or something. -
No LED yet for the 17" MBP?
Maybe because supplies of LED screens are tight and they don't want to bottleneck holiday sales.
-
I was hoping for something cool and new, guess not.... Oh well, just bought an MBP, that should suffice
-
Hehe, finally, after so much waiting, just ordered my macbook

I don't think that it was too unexpected that the MacBook would only receive a minor update. MacBook is the Apple's top-selling notebook and Christmas is an important selling season for them. They wouldn't want to risk introducing an LED design now and risk supply shortages crippling sales or introduce a case redesign and having to deal with potential version 1.0 problems. They might as well wade it out until Penryn comes in Q1 where the better thermal characteristics will give them more design freedom.
It's too bad though, that Apple didn't add the new 320GB hard drive as a configurable option. -
As hot as my 2.4ghz MBP gets when viewing a lot of flash there is no way i'd want the 2.6
-
-
They have these in stock at my local apple store already (Portland).
