Unfortunately, DigiTimes is not the best source of Mac news . But if true, this is good news!

Well, that means the MacBook will be getting LED-backlit screens soon then!

Or maybe this will be a new class. Like the 13.3-inch MBP, with aluminum and more power, while they also keep the MacBook as another 13.3-inch notebook.

Exactly my thought. This points as much towards a MB screen update as it does to a new MBP, maybe even more so. Apple has already announced their plan to change all displays over to LED and I would think the ultraportable MBP would come in under 13". Maybe more like 12, but who knows.

Here is the thing: I am more and more thinking about a smaller notebook with power; my issue is that they have very poor resolutions (at best 1280x800, 1240x786). Can it be possible to squeeze a much higher resolution onto these screens?

if so, then I will not wait for the MBP upgrade to a smaller nm chip (Montevino or Nahelem) chip

    ditto !

I am surprised that this news has everyone convinced that a new hypothetical ultra-portable mbp is coming. If anything the most obvious thing is an updated LED screen for the current mb... something people were saying would arrive in november, but never did.

Well, considering that the chassis sizes of 12" and 13" notebooks are very similar, they could easily put out a 13.3" ultraportable thats under an inch thick and weighs right around 3.5lbs. I'm not saying thats what they are going to do; I am just saying that its not really probable that the ultraportable will be 12". It would also simplify the screens, they could use the same ones for the MB and MBSlim/ultraportable.
