I never tried it, but are the MBPs superdrive capable to burn two layers?

What type of discs would you need in order to take advantage of that dual layer feature?

    Dual layer discs perhaps?

Mine all say DVD+R DL, have Double Layer somewhere else on it, and 8.5GB labeled elsewhere.

If they say 4.7GB, they are single layer.

For the record, my G5 tower from 2004 had a DL burner. I think all the DVD burners in Intel machines are DL capable, but don't hold me to that.

No, they are not all DL capable. All the C2D MBP's should be. I wish my MBP had a DL burner :(

But hey, DL discs are still expensive...

How do you make a backup of Leopard? Do you mean a backup of Disk 1 and 2 onto a single DL?

I bought a bunch of Verbatim DL disks when they were on sale at FutureShop, They worked out to be $1.25 per disk and they're great. Not a single problem with them.

My MBP has the DL burner and works well enough. Burned two videos using DL disks with no problems.

My brother has the CD (not C2D) MBP, and I'm pretty sure his drive is not DL-capable. I think all C2D MBPs do have DL-capabilities, though.
