I just bought a G4 Mini this past week and already love it. I'm wanting to pick up a 15.4" MBP previous model if the B&M stores are heavily discounting it yet. Otherwise I guess I'll try to get in on the amazon deal.

I dont think they're advertising the discounts in store, you may have to ask for it.

My brother asked last night, and the store nearest him said they were not discounting the old models, but rather shipping them back to Apple.

That may not apply everywhere, but it's very likely.

Well then I guess I'll go up to the Apple store during lunch and see what they have to say.

I'm just curious if they will and if they do how it stacks up to the amazon.com deal.

I'd like to get roughly the same price just without messing with a rebate. :-D

Is there a better deal than what I'm seeing?

    Amazon.com
    15", 2.2GHz, 120GB/2GB
    $1686.49 - $150 rebate = $1536.49
Free shipping, sales tax to CA on Amazon?

    Apple.com refurbished
    15", 2.2GHz, 120GB/2GB
    $1449 + $119.54 sales tax to CA = $1568.54

    Apple.com refurbished
    15", 2.4GHz, 160GB/2GB
    $1649 + $136.04 sales tax to CA = $1785.04

No the Amazon deal is the best right now.

Apple Store said they shipped them back to Apple to sell on their clearance store. They will be selling the returns for the Web site's price minus 10%.
