I am interested in buying a MacBook Pro, although I am not in too much of a hurry. I am also a person who likes 16:10 screens, and doesn't like 16:9.

So I'm wondering if these latest MacBook Pros will be the last ones to have 16:10 screens? It seems like almost every other laptop on the market has moved to 16:9, so I'm wondering if the next revision of MBPs will also be 16:9. I want to get the fastest 16:10 MBP possible, so if the next revision will still be 16:10, then I think I will wait for it. Otherwise I'll get the current model.

Just wait and see. If the next revision goes 16x9 buy one of the remaining gen ones. They wont just disappear overnight. I hope they stay away from16x9 though, I hardly ever watch movies on my Mac.

16:9 would be terrible for work on a 13" screen.

    No vertical screen real estate.

From the way things are going, I would guess that this is the last generation of 16:10 screens...

Most 16x9 13" screens are 1366x768 => 32 pixels shorter than what Apple has now and 86 pixels wider. I think proclaiming it to be terrible may be hyperbole. Apple has 1.024M pixels vs. the 1.049M pixels on your avg 16x9 13" display. On a new 15" cheapo computer w/ the horrific 1366x768 vs the old norm of 1440x900, it's a bigger deal but on the 13" level it's a minuscule difference.

I don't think a 4% reduction in vertical pixels would relegate the 13" MBP to the toy heap. Most real productivity requires a full size LCD anyway regardless.

Keep it 16:10. There are no lose but gain more pixels.

I know it is nice for movies but it is just a black strip on top and bottom. It doesn't make any differences in theory. 16:9 or 16:10 physical screen width is the same length regardless of the screen resolution.

16:10 just taller. Best for working with anything; documenting, designs, film production.

I have a HDX16 which is 16:9 and my old laptop Dell is a 16:10. I have put them together watch the same movie from very far away. Both are at full screen at the same size (view-port) just the 16:10 has a taller black border strip top and bottom of the movie.

The movie shows the same dimension because your widescreen movie will maxed out to the width of your screen and the same keep ratio proportion (not distorted OR stretched).

Beside I hated my HDX16 screen (color issue & really bad contrast) when I compare to my LG external and my LG is a 16:9 as well. :(
Least I still have a 16:10 screen laptop sits beside me.

I bought a 16:9 16" Toshiba laptop and absolutely hate the aspect ratio. In fact i'm not a fan of Apple the company but if they are the only ones selling a 16:10 laptop i'll buy a MacBook Pro. :p

I like the height in my screen but the 16:9 ones aren't terrible either. Some of the people I know prefer 16:9 over 16:10.

To each their own I guess.

Personally I think 16:10 works better for a laptop, especially at 13".

They may give em up as more and company's move over to 16:9 the 16:10 screen prices will go higher... that is what is allegedly happening with the toughbook :/

Personally I would not want any thinner of a screen, I never like widescreen anything...
not even at theaters, what is the problem with a square theater even!?
    :)
