    Hi all,

Picked up a 13" MacBook Pro (2.4GHz, 250GB) and purchased Parallels Desktop 6 in order to do some light gaming without having to boot into my Windows 7 partition (the Parallels VM is configured to use the Boot Camp partition).

Unfortunately, I get major audio crackling and popping when using the VM (audio in the Boot Camp partition itself is A-OK). Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

I have the VM configured to use 2 cores and 2GB of RAM.

    Thanks!

uhhggg... VMs are not good for gaming... unless by light you mean very old games (6+ years old).. then they can be decent... though not great, depending on the game. Much better using something Wine based for gaming.

Hmmm, just tried VMware Fusion 3.1 and had no sound issues...

Seems to be a Parallels bug...

I try games in VMs always hoping they'll get better, and they've gotten astonomically better over the last couple of years, but the performance for gaming is no where even close to Wine.

I'd try reinstalling Parallels tools, or just check/submit a bug report

I'd make sure that the drivers for the parrells part are installed. I'm not sure how you do this but in VmWare its on the Virtual Machine menu somewhere usually. If you don't have them installed, things may be a bit laggy. I can use real-time audio software without issues in VmWare (XP Pro x32) works great.
