Is there a way to force all icons on the Mac OS desktop to automatically be aligned to the LEFT of the desktop as opposed to the RIGHT? The reason I ask this is because the icons would interfere with my background image if aligned to the right side of the screen. Dragging every icon to the left would be annoying, especially when I have to mount a new device or add a new item to the desktop, as that would automatically appear on the right side of the desktop and not to the left with all the other icons.

not that I am aware of. Finder isn't exactly known for lots of options. There might be some plist that takes care of that though, but I am not knowledgeable enough in OS X yet, sorry.
