I just noticed that my 15" MBP SR has a band of thick lines that continually flow from the bottom of the screen and fade and disappear about 1/3 of the way up. It reminds me of how you used to see a CRT monitor refreshing itself when you videotaped it, but not nearly as pronounced. I have the default blue background on the screen. Is this flow normal or do I need to bring the MBP to the Apple Store to have it checked out?

    No, that is not normal.

Sure enough; I brought it to the Apple store and they had to send it in for repair.

Really, thanks for the follow-up. A lot of people never bother to post feedback/updates. I'm probably guilty of this too, on occasion :D!

If you remember, please let us know what's going on when you get your Mac back.

    Yeah much? :p

I've seen many people go "missing" here on the forums...they ask questions about the Mac, get their Mac and never come back. They don't help out, they just leave, and never log on again. Tsk tsk!

Now some members like masterchef certainly paid his dues, but there's tons of people that I think should "give back" to the community, since they were helped before.

    Whatever happened to xbandaidx?

(Yeah, OT, but kinda similar with what you guys are discussing.)

I became active in the Apple forum when he left (around February). I have no idea why he left...he also left behind his guides that went for a year without any updates.

EDIT: Looking through his last few posts, he never mentioned that he was going to turn inactive...he just left...

Well, I got the MBP back, and even though the problem was very obvious at the genius bar, the band flow apparently stopped somewhere between the Apple store and the Houston repair center and no repair was performed. Fortunately I still have several months left on the warranty and the Apple Store folks indicated that if the problem returns, they will swap the MBP out.
