Hi guys, I asked this in the main 2012 MBP thread but it seems to get lost pretty quickly in the retina/mac hater talk.

I was looking at getting the MBP-R but due to some recent financial constraints it looks like I can't afford it. Still wanted to go apple this time around I am now looking at the base model MBP with the 512mb 650m. I have a couple questions but looking for answers from people that actually have a factual opinion rather then speculation.

    1) Do you think the 512mb card will be able to handle modern games at native 1400x900 res? I'm not looking for ultra details but medium would surfice for me. The computer will be used for mainly browsing but with some gaming.

    2) I've vaguely heard a report or two that the new processor / kelper chip are producing less heat and therefor causing better temps in the new pro. Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks

Yes. You should be fine as long as your textures are not set super high since the memory is a bit low on the card.

This does let you put off your ssd purchase for later, but if you are going to add one anyway, it kinda bridges a lot of the cost gap... :\
