I heard that to prolong battery life on a notebook I should take the battery out when using it at home and just plug it in the power outlet. Will I be able to run the macbook without a battery insterted? It seems kind of a pain to remove the battery with a coin.

You can but I wouldn't advise it. Since you have a magsafe plug, one accidental flick and you lose all your data.

What's the difference between Lithium-polymer battery and a Lithium Ion battery? Can you guys share your experience with the macbook's battery? Do you always leave it in? How long should it last? When I searched for replacement battery pricing in the apple store website I found that a lot of people are complaining about short battery life..

Lithium-polymer is a type of lithium-ion battery, a better design if you will. Google for a more in-depth explanation.

I don't use a Macbook, but I always leave the battery in my Macbook Pro.

Some general battery information can be found at: http://www.apple.com/batteries/

people seem so paranoid when it comes to the battery. I'd say just use it like normal and enjoy your laptop. The battery will still last a very long time and it isnt hard to replace.
