I've decided that I want to buy the 15.4 inch laptop with the best possible battery life. So, I'm willing to switch to a mac, lose gaming performance, and pay more money for the (cheaper) 15.4 inch macbook, if it has significantly more battery life than the 2.5 hours reported for the asus g1s.
I can't seem to find a definitive answer on the web. So, how long can the 15.4 macbook w/ 128 vram run? (assume it's a mix of watching webtv/typing on word/and surfing the web)

My MBP 15'' (2.2GHz, 8600GT 128mb):
(This is in OSX)
Only iTunes (LCD off) = 5 hours
iTune + Web (LCD Max brightness) = a bit more than 3 hours -
Mine runs for about 3.5-4 hours on 1/2 to 3/4 brightness using WiFi and Adium and Camino and iTunes and NeoOffice.

i keep meaning to time it but haven't got round to it. I comfortably get over 3 hours tho if the screen is notched down a little... for the type of use you describe

15.4'' Macbook Pro about 3-4 hours.
13.3" Macbook about 4-5 hours. -
My MBP2.4 gets 3.5-4:45 hours in general use. Oddly, it was 3:45-5:05 before I first calibrated the battery. Load the puppy up to 150-180% CPU and it drops to 2:30.
My wifes MB 2Ghz gets 4-4:45 hours.
I'm pretty happy with the battery life. My Dell M70 with the internal battery and 6 cell media bay battery only gets 5:40.
