well, I ordered a macbook pro with a printer and a nano..

before that, i asked the online rep when the printer deal was going to be over, because my school started during january and i wasn't in a hurry

    she said september 16th

now i print out the rebate form for the printer, it says october 22nd. the nano is already shipped and delivered.

    i could've waited for leopard

probably a mistake from her end, but now i have a ****load of hassle to go through to send everything back and such

But the nano deal is over on Sept. 16th and everything needs to be on the same receipt (MBP, nano, and printer) to be eligible for the rebates. My guess is that the rep was looking at the whole package, not just the printer reabte date. Plus why wait for Leopard? It's only going to be $69 (or $79?) for students, so not a huge impact.

no, it can just be mbp+printer for the $100 rebate on the printer, and it won't matter if student discount is involved, there is no "whole" package", just two ongoing deals at the same time

money is still money, i'm in no hurry to get the machine and wanted to get the best out of my money

People can make mistakes, but lets point out: If they told you the 16th, because you wanted the MBP, printer and Nano, then that's not the same thing as lying. Sending everything back, you can save some cash by recieving Leopard installed ($129), but you will be out a nano ($149). You could always sell the Nano if your return doesn't work out

This is what I asked her: "when does the $100 printer rebate deal end?" Quit shielding them by assuming I asked the wrong question, because they too can make mistakes like you said. Also, I asked before purchasing, not after, not after a long introduction of my plans, nothing.

I don't need a nano, and I bet I'll have a hell of a difficult time selling the nano, because it's not the new fat one.

I'll just call the customer services and see if they can delay my MBP till Leopard is released.

well ... that sucks!! ... it's definitely possible for an apple rep to make a mistake ... in my short time dealing with apple ... iv come across a few incompetent ones... ofcourse.. the one thing going for apple is that their reps are generally courteous with their behaviour... and in the event it's apparent to them that there has been a goof up from their end they sometimes do try and make it right ... which sort of acts to reduce my anger levels a bit ...

anyways... if ur really really interested in getting the mbp with leopard installed...then i suggest you have a long hard talk with apple and see wht ur options are ...

Last online rep I talked to literally told me to take a hike, return the ipod, or call customer services.

They're not going to hold your order until Leopard comes out...sorry :p
Nor should you want them to. Wouldn't you rather get a MBP from a new October batch, rather than have them hold something 2 months old for you?

Sales reps do just one thing - try to make sales. Once your order goes through, they can't do very much for you or even give you compensation or other benefits. It's customer service that takes care of all that. Try calling them as was suggested, but I doubt you'd get very far. You might be able to get them to email you a fedex label and have them pay for the return shipment of the ipod (maybe) if you're persuasive though.

Just cancel and wait until October to buy.

Not trying to be a jerk, but that wasn't much contribution..

I called and waited 10+ minutes, I'll call them during weekdays.. maybe they get lighter volume then.

It wasn't meant to be, but your post wasn't a question asking for contributions, but rather a rant looking for sympathy wasn't it?

Sounds more like stirring the pot. "Yeah, I'll go the Apple forum and tell them what idiots Apple employees are!" I've seen this before, I know it...

I bet you could find someone willing to exchange a copy of leopard for a nano, and this way you would get a mbp early too...

Dunno about that. The fat one is... ugly. I certainly would trade the fat one for a skinny one in a heart beat.

It's really not that bad if you look at pictures of it in someone's hand. It's really small. Plus, it can play video. I'd personally keep the fat one.

Not me. I'll take the sleek one. This design is too much like one a few I've seen that I didn't like.

I'm really stuck on which one's better. The G1 and G2 Nano's form factor and design is far superior to the new Nano, but the new Nano has great new features like Cover Flow, video, new UI.

So I like the design and form factor of the G1 and G2, but the features of the new G3 Nano.

I went to the Apple Store today (finally got one in KY!) and looked at the new Nanos. They actually looked pretty good IMO. I do like the old ones, but the new ones aren't any thicker, they're not a whole lot wider, but they're like half as tall. I actually really liked it in person.

To the OP, sorry you are disappointed but that's what happens with customer service sometimes and it is excusable. I have been to Fry's and I have heard the employees in the computer department say that there's no version of MS Office for Macs. I think that's pretty lame and it's doing a disservice to the customer. Most of those guys are geared towards selling Windows PC's so much that they don't even know what a Mac is capable of.

Next time please post a title that actually fits. You have even admitted that it was a mistake and yet you used the word "Lie" which only attracts people to read your post.

I think you and I live in or near the same city! I didn't even know that it was opening until 1 hour before it opened!

Sorry but i spent 30+ minutes waiting on Friday before i got one! They are really getting peppered with calls since the announcements on the 5th. Good luck.
