What is the best (free or shareware) program that gets iTunes album arts? I have found one called CoverScout but are there anymore that are better?

I tried it...it doesn't seem to work. Can you tell me how it works? I logged into my iTunes store and selected 'Get Album Art from the menu but nothing happened.

Do you rip a lot of your music or something?

Because iTunes uses your ID3 tags to get the information it needs, this tag contains information such as artist, album name, song name. etc and iTunes takes this information and sends it to the server which will send you an album cover. I'm not saying because you ripped your music you can't get them, but that could be a case because I have a few songs that don't have covers either thats mostly due to the fact I don't have time to add the tags.

If you don't rip your music and get it from iTunes, thats a bit weird thing. It could be a bug.

iTunes album art finder is lacking a bit. If you listen to not so mainstream stuff iTunes does not have it. If it is not in the iTunes music store, it won't get the art. Copy and paste using a google image serach is your best bet, but if like me you have a lot of albums it gets real tedious.

Yup, the album art finder in iTunes is seriously lacking. Better than WMP I think. But then again, iTunes sucks cause you can't manually search the IMDB for album info.
I mean... really, wtf were they thinking not implementing something like that?
Unless, I'm just missing it. But I don't think I am.
I've noticed several of my albums (I have like, 100 albums on my HD right now) have incorrect cover art. Oh well, I generally am never looking at cover art.
I mean who really pays that much attention to the cover art?

it's not that good. try mpfreaker or something like that (do a versiontracker search for itunes art) . it fixes a bunch of stuff. itunes 7 has all kinds of issues so read up before you upgrade (does not play video's that well).

itunes 7 almost finds every song that has an album name and artist, but obviously it is not going to find everything if it wasn't ripped from an album or purchased.

I am almost certain that iTunes only finds albums it has for sale, which is by no means everything. There are a lot of albums not on iTunes, Beatles come o mind, Rolling Stones is another.

Speaking of iTunes 7, how do you guys compare it with iTunes 6? There is a new update (7.0.2). Heck, I believe in "if ain't broke, don't fix it" so I am still using iTunes 6... well, I haven't even upgraded to OS X 10.4.8... :)

its mostly good. i tried to get it to work on a windows machine and it was a disaster (7.0.1). it broke video playback and was balky. tv shows downloaded from apple kept sticking frames (this was a fast core duo machine)

however in osx on a core 2 duo macbook pro it's perfect and has loads of great features. go ahead upgrade. keep you old library if you want to downgrade.
