Are there any good free AVI or MPEG video splitters for the MAC?

No suggestions at all?!? How about any software that's cheap say under $20?

I would like to help, but I am not entirely sure what a video splitter is or does. If you could explain better what it is you are looking for or wanting to do maybe we could offer up something.

Perhaps video editor is the right terminology? I'm looking to take a large video file (.avi, .mpeg, etc.) and split it into 2 or more parts. I use EZ-Video Splitter on my PC but wanted something for my MBP. Thanks!!!

i use virtualdub for the pc for all my video encoding needs....this is supposed to be a similar version for linux/mac. -
I use virtualdub as well, and that seems to be the closest one to it.

So, I downloaded Avidemux but it won't run on my computer. Its launches and then immediately closes without any error message or anything. I tried re-installing and tried both versions they have available for download on their website. I'm not sure if it won't work b/c I have one of the Intel Mac's or if its something else. Any ideas?
How about any of the Mac users out there!?!? No one knows of any programs I can use to split up ".avi" or other types of video files? -
Use the X11 version. Also make sure you have installed x11. If you've done both, go to their forums, they have some threads concerning the same thing.

I can suggest visualhub, I know it doesn't split files (but can combine them), but it does a very nice job of compressing them into a variety of formats, and is also very quick. This could be an alternative way of reducing file size.
Personally I hate having a movie split in 2, much prefer one file, but each to their own.

MPEG Streamclip is also worth a look. As well as editing, it allows for muxing/demuxing and conversion to all available Quicktime formats. Free download too.
