A refurbished Blackbook is only $100 more than a new white Macbook. Honestly, there's no difference between the quality of Apple's refurb and new products.

    Thats hilarious.

Its the BlacBook for me, the matte finish looks nicer than the glossy white thats been on every portable Mac for...all of eternity it seems like.

I don't know why but I find the white one downright unatractive and the black one only fairly atractive. There's something plasticy over the macbook (especially compared to the MBP) that makes it feel offputting and non-Appleish. I salvitate over the MBP though...

The black MacBook looks better, but not better enough to justify the extra money.

I never would have gotten a Macbook if it were only available in white. And in all fairness, the price difference isn't JUST for the color, you get a bigger hard drive too. So it's more like a $125 option if you get it from Apple.

I bought my black Macbook in February from Amazon; it came with a $100 Mail in rebate, which I received surprisingly promptly. So $1400 plus the $75 I saved from no sales tax = win.

I like black better when it comes to everything, be it cloths, my desk, my monitor color, my sterio speakers ect.

So its obvious what color macbook I would want: The White one! lol

    Yep its true. Why?

Well because even tho I am not a mac fan, if I had one I would want white because thats sort of the calling card of a mac, and since you usually pay up the [)(] for one you wanna be kinda proudly sporting that your a mac user.

Most of apples sales are fan based or hype driven from what I can tell, so white seems to make more sense.

To my supprise they have a huge apple sales display at best buy now, not sure if it temporary or permanent, but when I was there the other day they had several diffrent apple notebooks and monitors out to use/play with.

I still think the black looks better (though white is the apple color of choice), somehow, the MB just looks sexier in matte black.

However, I hate the idea of paying more for it. Which is why if I got an MB, I would get a black refurb model :p

The Apple displays were up at my local BB today too. I think its going to be permanent. It was a pretty nice outfit, and I fell in love with the MacBook Pro. Again. For the fourth or fifth time.

I couldnt do anything on it... just one mouse button.. im so lost in the mac world.

BTW guess for when you use bootcamp to run windows you just plug a windows based mouse into to notebook to do things? all the other keys on the keyboard are more or less the same right?

I really hate Apple for not putting two buttons on their laptops, having just one has to be the most idiotic decision made in their design.

Anyway, you can set it so tapping the touch pad with two fingers serves as a right click, but that's a completely inadequate substitute for a second mouse button.

But any generic two button mouse works fine in OS X, so it's not a problem if you can use a seperate mouse.

The keyboard is simple enough; it's slightly different but pretty much self-explanatory. Some funtions you use CTRL for in Windows (like copy and paste) you use the command key instead, and you have to use the FN key more (for the PC-equiv of the delete key, page up/down and home/end, etc).

    Why do you hate them?
Afterall, for many decades, hasn't the 1-mouse-button been Apple's trademark?

Well, I guess this is the little nitty gritty details that sets it apart from windows pcs.

And oh, i'm getting myself a black macbook :)

I never owned an Apple and never even considered owning one until they moved to Intel. I don't really care how long they've had one button, it's just idiotic.

If they REALLY wanted it to at least look like it had one button, I wouldn't have minded a "single button" that was really two seperate buttons on either end (it's waay big enough to do that). But nope, they have to be retarded about it.

Actually, Apple has another way to do a right-click, and I find that this is actually easier than a dedicated right-click button. Instead of reaching a finger over to tap on the right-click button, you can just tap the touchpad with two fingers to create a right-click, or click on the mouse button while putting two fingers on the touchpad. I find that I don't need to move my hand over to do a right-click, I can just create a right-click anywhere on the touchpad. More convenient, in my opinion.

EDIT: I see you already know this feature in some earlier posts you made :). Anyways, I find this is a very adequate replacement for a right-click. I find it more convenient not having to reach out to click a dedicated right-click button.

You also scroll up and down, left and right by using two fingers on the touchpad instead of one. No need for a strip along the side of the touchpad to scroll.

It's nice to have, but I don't think two-finger tapping is at all adequate of a substitute for a second button.

I do really really like the two-finger scrolling though, ALL laptops should have this.

That does sound pretty neat, wonder if it can be implimented via software on pc's or if its totally dependant on hardware.

Well, not fully sure as I don't personally follow all the "running Windows on Mac" jazz but I believe Boot Camp does allow for two-finger tap = right click.

But its true that Apple is more "advanced" in its touchpad as of now; it was the first to introduce the touchpad to notebooks and it still has a better touchpad; two finger scrolling beats dedicated scrolling "line" in my opinion.

I find the two-finger click much easier than a right button. Overall, Apple's touchpad is far superior to its PC counterparts.

Nah. I prefer one-finger scrolling. I use my ring finger to scroll on my laptop. If I used a mac, by definition, I'd have to use two fingers - likely my index and middle. I'm no weakling, but why use two fingers when you could just use one? Saves muscle strength.

And the black definitely looks better than the white.

Because it is more accurate. I find scrolling with one finger, usually on the edge of the trackpad, to be splotchy and it would either scroll too fast or too slow or sometimes wont register my finger scrolling movements. Also with two finger scroll you can scroll up or down, left or right, in diagnols or in circles without lifting your fingers.

I do really like the idea of 2 finger click and 2 finger scrolling and hope there is a way to make it work on pc with software.

I still would like two buttons tho to click with aswell that way you kind of get the best of both worlds.

But there is no right click in OSX right? its just that one button it uses, so adding a 2nd button would be like advertising "use windows on me" and I think thats something they wouldnt want to do.

OS X has context clicks (right clicks), just as Windows does. It used to require you to hit cntrl-click to enact it, but they are moving away from that. The thing of it is in OS X, you don't right click often. Mac users generally make more use of shortcut keys which replace the need to right click in most situations.

I disagree about the button, but agree about the touchpad. I love how it's so much larger than pretty much any other touch pad out there, it makes a huge difference.

I still far prefer the pointer nipple thingy on my old Thinkpad to any touch pad though.
