Ok. I got a Macbook Pro a few weeks ago (which unfortunatley is with Apple right now because of a warped case), and by the time I get it back I'll have a copy of Windows Vist, however, it won't be a retail copy. Basically, a buddy of mine is taking a programing course, and they are giving away a copy of Vista to each student, but he already has it so he's letting me use it for myself. This copy is on a burned DVD, but from what I've been told is legit, and comes with a CD key that's valid for one installation (so if I screw up installing once, or need to re-install I'm out of luck). My question is, will I have problems installing such a thing through Boot Camp, or will it go normally?
Also: When I first ran boot camp to see what it was like, it told me to back up my HD. My Macbook came with the Leopard disc, and I don't have an external HD. So, if something goes wrong, can I use the Leopard disc to restore it to factory settings, or am I s**t outta luck? Thanks.

I received an iso and CD key through my university's MSNAA agreement and I was able to install Windows XP through Boot Camp. I had some problems with Boot Camp not recognizing my disc at first but that was because I didn't burn the iso correctly.

I have Windows Vista installed on my MacBook Pro through Boot Camp. I'm actually amazed at how well it runs compared to my desktop machine with Vista.
The installation will go smoothly. I've done it twice so far, once with Windows XP and now with Windows Vista (32-bit). -
the installation will go smoothly for sure. But what you buddy is doing is simply illegal.
those school licenses are not to be given to other people, it even says that on MSDNAA
i just wish my school would get with it, they only offer 5 CD ISOs for vista business, not 1 DVD IMAGE!!! -
